the creature inside the cage looked a lot like me.

a poem.

Heavy breathing as I gaze at the sky.
Emptiness creeps inside of me daily.
Every day, my mind wonders why.
All this love, but why do I feel lonely?

I'm closing all the doors again to feel empty.
Isolating once more to endure numbness.
The creature inside the cage seeks serenity,
Realizing it's my reflection amidst absurdness.

I woke up from a deep slumber.
Praying on bent knees while hoping aimlessly.
I saw myself swallowing all the "never."
Reminding myself again that I am loved deeply.
