One day, I looked at my boyfriend and thought, was he going to last forever? Some might say it’s an unrealistic expectation to be in love at a young age. Maybe because we’re still naive and don’t have a lot of experience with love — and in general, life.
Society nowadays labels love as a temporary happiness. Once they no longer find joy with this person or find another that brings them more joy — they leave. They don’t communicate and resolve the problem. Instead, they cheat and lie.
I was always the type of person to view love as this hurtful form of distraction from my problems. I’ve always thought loving someone was a waste — until I found my boyfriend.
Now, I firmly believe that being loved by someone who loves you back is a tremendous privilege that should not be taken for granted. Even though I’m still young and don’t have my life put together yet — I know that my love for him will always remain.
In a world full of chaos, he was my peace. In a world full of stress, he was my rest. He became my safe space. My home.
We might not be together in the long run. We might separate ways once we’re older. But one thing’s for sure — I am grateful to have met him, and I feel blessed to experience the teenage dream—being loved and in love.
If you have a significant other, don’t forget to hug them today. Express your love and appreciation. Be grateful you get to experience a life full of love.
