I’ve been a victim of cat-calling all my life. My parents teached me to dress modestly to avoid any male gaze. For quite some time, I believed that it was my clothes to blame and that my parents were right.

Lately, victims of sexual violence in my country have reached over eight thousand.

Eight thousand innocent people. Eight thousand people who are incapable of raising a child. Eight thousand people who are not ready to commit to motherhood. Eight thousand people who are suffering from post-traumatic incidents.

As I scroll through social media, I can’t help but notice how many people now normalize sexual assault.

This was very alarming as well as disappointing. Some people really view us as if we’re objects to just get played. This serves as a reminder that we are in grieve danger, and this topic should be talked about more. The funny thing about this is men really blamed our clothes for it.

STOP BLAMING VICTIMS! CLOTHING DOESN’T INVITES SEXUAL INSULT.

no rapist = no rape. as simple as that.

and oh, 82% of people who got raped didn’t even wore revealing clothes.

So, stop saying that clothes are responsible for rape incidents.

“Would you rather be stuck in a forest with a man or bear?”

BEAR.

A bear won’t rape me. No one will say I wanted to be attacked. The bear sees me as a human being. The bear won’t tell everyone I wanted to do it. The bear sees me as a threat, not an opportunity. A bear will leave me alone after it kills me. Nobody will ask what I was wearing if the bear kills me.

The worst thing a bear can do is kill me. A man can do worse.
